South Birmingham League Champions at first attempt.

Division 1 Champions: South Birmingham, runners-up Sutton Coldfield.

Division 2 Champions: Warley Quinborne, runners-up Halesowen

Division 3 Champions: South Birmingham, runners-up Halesowen B

29 Aug. Brian Dudley Memorial Rapid and Junior tournaments.
7 Apr. Rugeley Rapidplay. The Open was won by Gary Kenworthy (Beds) with 5½/7 and marek mazak (Heywood) and Lawrence Cooper (Stafford) shared 2-3rd places.The Major tournament prize was shared by Phil Bull (Wolverhampton), Douglas Barnett (Crewe) and Peter Collins (Lichfield) on 5½/7. The Minor section was won by Robert Marks (Sutton Coldfield) with 6½/7 with David Blower and Steve Whatmore sharing 2nd and third prizes. Over 50 players entered and the event was controlled by IA Matt Carr assisted by Dave Thomas
15 Oct. Birmingham & District Rapidplay. Simon Smith (Warley) was second with 5/7 in the Major section of the Birmingham & District Rapidplay and club-mate John Pakenham (Warley) gained second prize in the Minor tournament.
21 Sep. Halesowen Club awarded ECF 2017 Club of the year.
