| Reported by Ray Collett. This match was decided in the closing seconds of two games. On board 2 Collett won a pawn in the early middle game and the gained further material to force a win in a R+P ending to give Worcester the lead, but on board 3, Sharratt was a piece up and faced a king-side attack and on board 4, there was a complex rook and minor piece ending with both players having passed outside pawns. Board 1 concluded abruptly with a win for Scriven. Holmes was very short of time and lost on time in a very promising position. Sharratt batted away his opponent's attack and Austin resigned. | |||

| Reported by John Knee and Ray Collett. Board 4 was the first to finish with a win for Worcester. The scores were levelled by Clarke who out-manoeuvred Collett in the middle-game and then exchanged down to a minor piece ending where black was defenceless against a passed pawn and marauding bishops. The match was still in the balance when board 1 players in a complex position were playing fast using their ten-second increments for their moves. Eventually it was Marchant who cracked when he allowed a mate in one. | |||
