Toss for colour on board 1 at the start of the match. Time control is the normal for District League play: 35 moves in 1¼ hours followed by 15 minutes extra for a quickplay finish. If Division 2 team plays against a team playing in Division 1, the Division 2 team starts with a 1½ points advantage so that the Division side must win by 3 - 1 to go forward to the next round. In the event of a match between two teams playing in the same division ending in a 2 - 2 draw, the team with the better score after removing the result of the lowest board decisive game goes forward. If all games are drawn, the match must be replayed. Roll of honourThe competition was inaugurated in the1994-5 season. The Siegel Shield is named after Eric Siegel who was Honrary Secretary of the League for about 20 years. Visit the roll of honour to see the list of previous winners.
