2013-14 season news13 Jul 2014. Worcester Open Congress results. League players who did well were: James Friar (Stourbridge), following his time out for exams, returned to the board to come joint second in the Major (u160) tournament. In the Minor (u115), first place was shared by Steve Crockett and David Brown (both Redditch). See full reports and pictures. Organisers Andrew Farthing and Andrew Moore announced they have made over £900 for this year's charity Chess in Schools & Communities. 12 Feb 2014. Halesowen II retain Div II championship by beating Kidderminster II. 6 Feb 2014. Malvern make sure of title when they beat nearest rivals Worcester City. 14 Dec 2013. Malvern lead Div 1, Halesowen II lead Div 2. and With the last league matches completed before the New Year, Malvern Are clear favourites to win Div 1, having won all their matches so far. No other team has a 100% record. In Division 2, Halesowen II are a point ahead of Greenlands. 30 Aug 2013. Ray Collett reports from the Worcestershire League fixtures meeting. The teams in Div I remain the same as last year: Hagley, Halesowen I, Kidderminster I, Malvern and Worcester. They play home and away. Division II has fewer teams with the withdrawal of the Redditch clubs and the competing teams were: Droitwich, Greenlands, Halesowen II, and Kidderminster II. 2 Oct 2013. The list of registered players was published showing grade ID, grade and whether a player is barred from Div II play 1 Oct 2013. First match of the season results in a victory for Halesowen in Division 2. 30 Aug 2013. The Fixtures Meeting was held at Hagley Chess Club immediately after the meeting of Worcestershire Chess Association. Headless Cross are not meeting this coming season and drop out of the league. Please let Andrew have team entries, contact details for team captains and lists of players for league registration. 29 Jul 2013. Check your new grade. The new ECF grading list is out. The site has been redesigned making it simpler to check your results. The help file on the site states: "Players are advised to check that their current-season results (as published on this site) are correct. Please check as the season progresses: don't save everything for the July/August logjam. Remember, however, that games will not appear at once. Leagues usually report only twice a year, and congresses vary in promptness. In the case of incorrect or missing results, your first contact should normally be with the organisers of the event. The ECF can only grade what organisers send. But it will always correct errors which can be confirmed by the organiser, by the local grader, or indeed by the opponent. There will be cases where it is best to contact the Grading Administrator direct. WCL results are graded by Paul Sharratt.
