Under 140 team retain Midlands titleGiles Stanton's team again produced the goods in the union stage, but went down in the national semi final to the powerful Hertfordshire team. 9 June Giles Stanton reports. Worcestershire lost to Hertfordshire in the national u140 county semi-final played at Weston-on-the-Green, Oxon. With both teams having an average grade of 128 it looked like a close encounter. Unfortunately Herts players had other ideas. They opened up an early two point lead and extended that to four points with four games still to finish. Herts were impressive winners 11-5 and followed up by becoming national champions. Jason Pereira was Worcestershire's outstanding player of the day. Assured king and pawn endgame technique won his game. I would like to thank all players for getting the team to the national semi final for the second year running. Also I thank players providing transport. 13 May. A splendid win against Yorkshire takes Worcestershire into the semi-finals. 12 March. Giles Stanton, captain writes: "After last weekend's win for Warks over Notts, Worcestershire can't now be caught. Although at the moment Worcestershire are tied with Leicestershire on ten points, our win over them means we have retained our position as MCCU u140 Champions with a game still to play! Once again congrats to all and my thanks for your constant surport". Giles pays tribute to all team members for their commitment and support throughout the season.
Under-120 teamRichard Turner and the team were very unlucky just missing out on the Midlands Championship in their last match of the union stage and then losing on tie-break to Lancashire in the national quarter finals. The last match of the season decided the Midlands title. Staffs Terriers were 2 points adrift from Worcs in the county table, but won the match against Worcs to take the title. Richard Turner writes: "I would like to thank you all for all your efforts and support it has made the job both rewarding and relatively simple. I will be around for some of next season". Richard is unable to continue the role of captain in 2012-13 because he is away for the first part of the season.
