County team results 2015-6Worcestershire Minor County team 2015-6 seasonJim Friar took on the captaincy with John Wrench as vice-captain. Unfortunately after the first win against local rivals, the other matches were lost by narrow margins. Jim's game for the team against Lincolnshire - a win on board 9 - turned out to be his last for Worcestershire because he was diagnosed as having cancer shortly afterwards. His health detriorated very rapidly and he died on 27 May. John Wrench, vice-captain, promised to take over the captaincy for the next season.
Worcestershire u140 team 2015-6 seasonAfter a gap of two years, Worcestershire returned to this competition under the captaincy of Paul Sharratt. It looked near the start of the season that the county would be unable to filed a team against Nottinghamshire, but their captain agreed to a postponement. A generous offer that Worcestershire took full advantage of by qualifying - just - for the national stages. There was no turning back and the team registered a heavy win against Kent followed by a further wins against Nottinghamshire away. A confident team then scored a win against Surry in the national final. An historic Worcestershire first for a first-time captain: it was Worcestershire's first ever national team championship win over the board.
