25 Apr 2024. Longbridge also arrived a board short and Worcester won. Mellor and Austin won their games. This match completed the City team's campaign and the team will finish fourth out of six teams in the league.
11 Apr 2024. Kidderminster arrived a board short and only one player was able to salvage a draw. Mellor, Osbourn, and Rastall won their games.
8 Mar 2024. Worcester City lost their away fixture at Malvern in the Championship League. Only Phil Austin and Joe Rastall escaped with draws
28 Feb 2024. Worcester City travelled to play Redditch away for their penultimate match of the season and won 3-2. Boards 1 to 4 drew and captain Rob Sutton was the only player to achieve a win. Board 2 saw a complex game with both players short of time finishing as a draw, both players having a rook and two pawns on the same side of the board.
15 Feb 2024. Worcester scored its second match point with a draw in the away fixture against Longbridge. Joe Rastall was the only Worcester player to win
29 Jan 2024. Worcester lost against Halesowen with only Peter Kitson and Joe Rastall able to get draws.
30 Nov 2023. New player Keith Sorrell was one of three Worcester players to score a draw in this match. Board 1 saw an exciting game in which Joe gave up the exchange.
2 Nov 2023. The city team scored their first match point by drawing at home to Malvern. Board 1 saw an exciting game where Rastall had to lose the exchange to fend off a fierce attack along his second rank, but had chances with two advanced pawns. In the time scramble, Davies won.
19 Oct 2023. In the first home match of the season City lost a hard fought match with Halesowen with the match resut depending on the result on board 2, the only decisive game.
11 Oct 2023. The city team lost away to Kiddrminster. Only captain Roob Sutton was aboe to win.
18 Aug 2023. Six teams entered: Halesowen, Kidderminster, Longbridge, Malvern, Redditch and Worcester. There are ten matches, each team playing the others home and away. Teams have five boards.

22 May 2024. In the final match of the Worcestershire League season Aiden Griffiths deputised for Scott. Worcester Rooks lost with Phil Austin and Dorin Luca escaping with draws.
17 Apr 2024. The Rooks team won their away match against Redditch to confim second place in the table.
4 Apr 2024. The Rooks team defeated Longbridge. Three games were drawn and the winning Worcester player was Joe Rastall.
29 Feb 2024. Worcester Rooks drew with Malvern in the home match.
12 Jan 2024. Worcester Rooks lost against Malvern and are now second in the table.
7 Dec 2023. The Rooks suffered their first defeat and went down to Redditch, but are still top of the table.
28 Sep 2023. Worcester Rooks, playing away, beat Longbridge. Scott and Seamus won their games.
21 Sep 2023. Rooks win first match. The games were more even that the team scores show. Scott was the last to finish converting a R+BP vs R ending and Ray was lucky to be offered a draw by his opponent.

Worcester-Ukmerge second chess match 16 Feb 2024
Worcester City is twinned with Ukmerge in Lithuania. Both cities have well established chess clubs and the clubs have played online matches as part of the Twinning programme. The chess club at Ukmerge is called Juodasis Rikis – The Black Bishop.
In the first online match last summer, Ukmerge defeated Worcester 42-28. The two teams met again yesterday and Worcester emerged victorious winning by 54 points to Ukmerge's 42.
The format of both matches was a team battle on the lichess server and the playing session was one hour. Unlike an ordinary chess match where players have one game only, in a team battle each player can have as many games as possible within the hour the 'arena' is open. In team battles, there are 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. Pairing of players was performed online by the chess server.
Players each had 7 minutes for their moves plus an extra 3 seconds for each move. This fast 'rapidplay' chess leads to plenty of upsets.
Fifty eight games were played and the ferocity of play resulted in only two drawn games. Worcester's highest scoring player was club president Rob Sutton 12 points followed by Joe Rastall on 10 and new player Dorin Luca with 8 points. Full results and links to game are on lichess.
