  Result 1 - 3   Played 19 May 2011
Match report by Ray Collett. Both teams were weakened by absences because top players were working away from home. Top board finished first. Paul Thomas (Kidderminster) played a French Defence, but weakened his king side and Ray Collett infiltrated a bishop to f6 and Paul found there was no way to stop the queen getting to g7 and mating. Board 2 arrived at an interesting middle game where Andrew Farthing (Worcester) won a queen side pawn, but Mike Kitchen (Kidderminster) had plenty of compensation and a draw was agreed. Terry Pountney (Kidderminster) played a Queen's Pawn Game on board 4. John Clarke won a pawn and went into a bishop and pawn ending a pawn up, but was unable to convert to a full point. Board 3 was the last to finish. This game saw a Scandanavian Defence. Ed Osbourn (Worcester) gradually increased control of the board and broke through with an attack on black's king.

Match report by Jim Friar. Kidderminster crashed out the cup after a promising start. There was a draw on board 1 after a complicated Ruy Lopez. Exchanges led to an equal ending where both players ahd knight and bishop and five pawns. On board 2, Geoffrey Herbert (Malvern) declined a draw only to blunder a piece to a pin. Only a draw was needed on either the bottom boards to secure the match on board count for Kidderminster, but both players blundered a piece in the quickplay finish. Kidderminster players fought on, but against first class opposition that was fruitless.

  Result 3 - 2½ Played 16 Dec 2011
Match reported by Brian Turner. I am pleased to report that teams concluded this competition before 2012! The final was a hard-fought match with interesting and well-contested games. Malvern needed to beat Hagley by 3-1 or better. The tension quickly dissolved on board 2 and a draw was quite sensibly agreed. Towards the end of the session Malvern held an advantage on the remaining boards, but could only realise the full point in a rook and pawn ending on board 1. Joseph Friar (with knighhts against bishops but static pawns) and Peter Keate (a pawn down but with all entry squares well-guarded) both set up impregnable defensive positions and draws were agreed to give the match to Malvern but the trophy to Hagley. Congratulations to Hagley.
